Welcome to AKWN
the site of world news in Ancient Greek
After 10 years of existence, AKWN was migrated in August 2012 to this new site in order to allow Greek texts to be uploaded as real texts instead of as images. Please go to "General information" to read more about this new stage of AKWN.

Dear readers,
Some suggestions have arrived from readers with respect to the new way of offering the news. Basically, most observations relate to two aspects:
Point 1/ The difficulty of finding out if there are recent pieces of news without having to open all the sections one by one.
Point 2/ The brevity of the texts. If some readers had requested less text but more variety, it seems that other readers reject this kind of "telegraphic style" and would like to see more text, which allows for more variety of grammar constructions etc., not just "short statements."
I think that both complaints are right, so news will be expanded a little more, not just short statements. About the matter of classification of the news by themes, something that has been requested by many for a long time, it's impossible to group them by themes unless they are stored in this new system, but at the same time the complaint presented in Point 1/ above makes total sense. To solve this, here in the opening page I will indicate by date where news corresponding to that date can be found so that the reader can see if there is anything new and can go directly there without having to open all the sections one by one.
I hope that these modifications please everybody, but of course feel free to tell me your suggestions.
